Burgel<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"ekit-team-modal-position\">Chair<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ekit-team-modal-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPierre-R\u00e9gis Burgel is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University Paris Cit\u00e9\/Cochin Hospital (Paris, France). He has been involved in the care of adult with CF over the past 20 years and he is leading the French CF Reference Center Network (all 47 pediatric and adult CF centers in France) since 2017. PR Burgel is leading French national real-world evaluation studies of novel therapies in CF, involving all CF centers. He has lead landmark studies on CFTR modulators and has received research grants for over 1.5 million Euros in the past 5 years. His main interests are in the clinical and translational aspects of chronic airways diseases including bronchiectasis, COPD and cystic fibrosis. PR Burgel is Associate Editor of the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis and CF Associate Editor of the European Respiratory Journal; he is Chief Editor of Respiratory Medicine and Research (an official journal of the French Language Pulmonary Society). He has received the 2022  mid-career Gold Medal in Cystic Fibrosis from the European Respiratory Society. PR Burgel has published over 300 articles on Respiratory Medicine in the Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation at the University of Milan, Italy, as well as Head of Internal Medicine Department and Respiratory Unit of the Fondazione IRCCS Ca\u2019 Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, Italy.\nHe is also director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center of the Lombardia Regional Referral CF Center and currently a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Milan.\nFrom 2012\u20132013, he was president of European Respiratory Society (ERS) and from 2016\u20132017 president of the Italian Respiratory Society (SIP\/IRS). It will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
